A Mother’s Love: Bears All Things, Believes All Things, Hopes All Things, Endures All Things

A High School kid grew up playing football, more like practicing football, but other than taking a knee when the game was all but decided, he sat on the bench.

Still—he never missed a practice.

Never complained.

Never quit.

And every single game, his mother was there in the stands—cheering him on.

He went on to college and tried out as a walk-on.

No one expected him to make the team—but he did, as a result of determination, not athleticism.

The coach kept him around as an example of effort and heart.

For four more years, similar to high school, nothing changed.

He practiced. He showed up.

But he never played.

Then one week, just before the biggest game of the season, he learned that his mother had passed away.

The coach told him to take as much time off as he needed—to stay home, even skip the game.

But during the game, with his team losing late in the third quarter, the young man showed up.

Quietly. Determined.

“Coach, please… let me play.”

The coach hesitated—but finally gave in.

And what happened next stunned everyone.

The player who had never seen the field suddenly played like a star.

He ran with power, tackled with precision, and made play after play.

The team came back.

And in the final seconds, he intercepted a pass and ran it all the way back for the winning touchdown.

The crowd erupted.

His teammates lifted him on their shoulders.

Later, the coach found him sitting alone and asked,

“What in the world got into you?”

“Well, you know my mom died... but what you probably didn’t realize is that she was blind.”

“She came to every single game... every one, but today was different. For the first time, she could see me play.”

Jesus said, "For those who have ears to hear, let them hear."
