Nehemiah hears the news in the month of Kislev.

He doesn't say a word to the king until Nisan.

Count that. Roughly four months of carrying something heavy and saying nothing about it.

We read past that gap, because nothing appears to happen in it. Something was happening.

He was praying. He was thinking it through. He was waiting on a door he could not force open.

And when the king finally looked at him and asked why his face was sad, Nehemiah had an answer ready — how long he would be gone, what letters he would need, what timber it would take.

That answer was built in the waiting.

If you are in a stretch right now where nothing seems to be moving, don't call it wasted. Four months of quiet is what made the ask possible.

Jesus said, "For those who have ears to hear, let them hear."
